| [January 21st, 2012] XFO Fight Night |
What a rough week prior to this fight, working 40+ hours straight before even heading to the fights, I had just got off work, took my hour drive, got there, and basically had less than half-hour to get ready...
Had a couple friends that fought that night, starting with my good friend Anthony Schott. What a battle himself and his opponent put on for everybody, in the end, he ended up getting him to the ground and taking his back, pounding him out.
Here was a little play-by-play that I found:
Anthony Schott vs Stan Janeczko
Janeczko initially got into the cage with his shoes on, but the cage officials noticed and had him remove them. The heavyweights collided immediately in a barnstorming brawl. Schott took Janeczko down and mounted him. Janeczko turned over and received a heavy flurry. Janeczko covered up as Schott continued the attack, and soon after the fight was stopped.
The next friend that fought was Mike Mahurin, and to say the least, he was not ready for this fight. In my personal opinion, I feel like he was cheapshotted in the fight by being taken down so quick, his opponent and him were going to touch gloves, and his opponent in my eyes didn't even look like he made a full touch before jumping at the takedown. I know this sport is protect yourself at all times, but if your going to touch gloves, it's to show respect, if your going for a fast takedown, don't touch gloves. No disrespect in it, a win is a win I guess.
Mike Mahurin vs Tim Holman
Holman shot a double-leg take-down and finished it with an exclamation point. He dropped heavy bombs from the top position to a bellied out Holman. The fight was over just as quick as it began.
and finally we came to my fight... which was the long awaited matchup that was requested by skyler... we finally got it... to say the least i wish I would have gotten hit and put on my of a show, im sure there will be a rematch in the future, as I caught him in a choke early in the first.
Skyler Petrancosta vs Tyler Reece
Petrancosta shot in early and Reece reversed. After some brief guard work Petrancosta stood but was caught in a guillotine. Reese cranked the choke and Petrancosta tapped, and seemingly passed out at last second. The referee didn’t see the immediate tap because he was at a bad angle.
QUICK RESULTS
Anthony Schott defeated Stan Janeczko by TKO at 1:46 of round 1
Tim Holman defeated Mike Mahurin by tapout due to strikes at 0:09 of round 1
Tyler Reece defeated Skyler Petrancosta by guillotine choke at 1:40 of round 1
In any case, this just makes me feel more prepared for my title defense, I felt great, even knowing that I don't train a day in my life, I still feel like I have the heart to compete with anyone... eventually one day I will take this seriously... but for now I work and sleep... living the american dream!
